The Housevibes on Stage by Aman Sridhar

One of the first gigs I've ever had the joy of working on featured The Housevibes

I was lucky enough to have gotten behind the stage access, and I did my best to capture everything from the backstage-pre show vibe to the adrenaline filled performance.

An outdoor stage and extremely bright sunlight meant that my camera pretty much set itself, but I still had a fair few obstacles to deal with.

In the end it turned out to be an amazing experience, and I'm so happy to have been there.

Here are the shots from that day:

Why no watermarks? by Aman Sridhar

I've already had tons of people pointing out that my pictures don't have a watermark.

There's a reason for this.

It's simple.

Watermarks butcher pictures.

It doesn't matter how small the text is or how funky the logo is, when I see a watermark on a picture, my immediate, instinctive reaction is that the photographer is more worried about the image itself than the emotion captured within it.

I understand that in this day and age, misuse of copyrighted property is huge.

There's an element of risk to not add my own watermark to my pictures. But I prefer the pictures being raw and unadulterated.

Obviously, every single one of the pictures on this website is copyrighted and is my property. And I do feel the need to mention that.

But I cannot control other people's actions. I can only focus on myself.

And I'm going to make sure that none of my pictures ever has a watermark.

Behind The Scenes w/ The Housevibes by Aman Sridhar

So, you've probably noticed a project of mine titled "The Housevibes."

The Housevibes are a band started by some of the most talented local musicians I know.

I've been working with them for little over a past month now, filming and taking a whole bunch of pictures of their sessions.

It's been a great experience. I've had to learn about the camera on the fly, which meant that my skills have improved dramatically.

The pictures have a very warm feel to them. There's a lot of grain and noise and may not immediately be seen 'aesthetically pleasing.'

Let me explain:

First off, the only bit of lighting inside was a small yellow lamp hanging above the room.

I didn't want to add any light to it because it would make the session less spontaneous and would limit the band members movement around the room.

I only first noticed the warm feel to the pictures as I was looking through the pictures the next morning. I decided that I would go ahead and post them anyway because they really capture the vibe of the place well.

The pictures are raw and vivid and I think they will be able to whip up the emotion of the place really well.

You can find The Housevibes here.

Check out the video I put together here.

Feel free to leave a comment or two, and definitely share this around with others you think might be interested.

Cheers!

We're Live! by Aman Sridhar

After months and months of planning, I've finally launched my website.

The planning phase was long and tedious filled with indecisiveness and a lack of commitment on my side, but as soon as I made the decision about a month ago to go for this with all my effort, I haven't had a moment to breathe.

Obviously, things haven't gone quite according to plan, but it's still a great feeling to go live and show the world everything I've been up to.

This is now my primary forum for my work.

Most of my stuff will be photography and videography, but on occasion you will see more and more words pop up here.

Anyway, over the next couple of days I'm customizing my website after which I'll only be making minimal changes so stay tuned!

Cheers

Aman
